Greystoke Mahale
The Mahale Mountains are home to the world’s largest population of chimpanzees. This base camp on the shore of Lake Tanganyika has six exotic two-tiered, bandas built from dhow timber that face the beach. Adjoining bathrooms with flush toilets and showers are a few steps away on a boardwalk. Sundowners are hosted on the dhow or in the bar built onto the rocks overlooking the water. In addition to “chimping,” activities include, hiking, swimming in the warm, clear lake, snorkeling, fishing and kayaking.

Katavi Chada
Katavi National Park is in western Tanzania, many miles from anywhere. This is the place for the wildlife connoisseur, wild beyond belief. The camp of six large romantic and airy tents set amongst the trees with fine wood furniture, woven rugs and crisp Egyptian cotton bedding. Bush-deluxe bathrooms are set just behind each tent. There are amazing views out over the wide Chada Plain where game can sometimes be seen without even leaving camp. Activities include game drives, fly camping under the stars, walks, birding and three to four-day walking safaris.
