Southeast Kenya Camps & Lodges

The Amboseli ecosystem is best known for its unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro and the local elephant population which number more than 1,000 and feature some of the largest and most studied elephants in Africa. Chyulu Hills National Park sits between the Amboseli and Tsavo West National Parks in the path of traditional wildlife migration routes.  Tsavo East is Kenya’s largest park, a remote and pristine wilderness area.

Ol Donyo LodgeOl Donyo Suite

Chyulu Hills

Ol Donyo Lodge is a 20-bed lodge perched on a hillside, and completely rebuilt in 2008.  It has a history of passionate community conservation thanks to founder Richard Bonham who landed his Cessna on the open plains one day in the 1980s and met the local Maasai.  This began a tourism project where guests could come to the remote Mbirikani Group Ranch to safari and the Maasai shared the benefits.  A wide range of activities are available – from cultural visits, “Big Five” wildlife viewing and tracking, horseback riding and mountain biking, conservation and community programs – Ol Donyo Lodge is a holistic experience.  All suites have a lounge, verandah, indoor and outdoor showers, double washbasins, flush toilet and bath, and a rooftop “star-bed” which provides a fabulous sleep-out option.
