One of our preferred providers of mobile tented safaris in the Serengeti has a few openings for those who would like to travel with a small private group.

Lions: Phil Posen

You stay in comfortable style in remote wilderness areas and are attended to by an experienced camp crew. Your activities and game drives are planned to take advantage of the best of what each area has to offer.  There is not a set schedule, but rather a plan that is created each day with consideration of your interests, weather changes and animal movement.

Visiting Maasai: Carol Oken

These safaris feature two private camp locations – to give you an idea of the diversity of the vast Serengeti ecosystem --  with a night or two at a lodge on the rim of the famous Ngorongoro Crater while your camp is being moved.  You will also have an opportunity to experience Maasai culture.  This mobile safari operation is renowned for safety, quality and comfort without pretension. The 4X4 Land Cruisers are custom-built safari vehicles designed for photography and game viewing and carry a maximum of four guests.

Most of the year Tanzania’s daytime temperatures are warm (80’s to 90’s) and evenings are cool (low 50’s to Private tented camp: Norbert Shimkus60’s).  There are very few mosquitoes in the Serengeti ecosystem mainly because of the temperate zone with altitudes of 5,000 feet with low humidity.  Most guests fly to Kilimanjaro International Airport. From the moment you arrive in Tanzania, you are taken under the wing of Francesco Pierre-Nina and his experienced team.

To be on safari with Francesco-Pierre Nina is “not about touring, but entering a realm belonging to wild animals and living the magic the way one should when under the African skies.”

May 28 – June 8, 2011Bull

This is the beginning of the dry season, when the animals begin to congregate around the rivers and lakes to drink providing wonderful wildlife sightings.  You’ll spend your days camp tracking elephants, lions and cheetah and about 40 other different species of mammals and a couple hundred different species of birds.

February 19 - March 1, 2012Ngorongoro Crater zebra: Norbert Shimkus

The wildebeest migration can generally be found on the short grass plains of the Southern Serengeti at this time of the year. It is the end of the birthing season and the plains are full of zebra foals and wildebeest calves. Of course the predators find this very attractive!
